castle show choir

Get ready to shine on stage and make music with friends with CCT's, brand new, summer Show Choir. Explore a world of singing and dancing with classes tailored just for your age group. Each age group will learn an assortment of up-beat songs tailored to a music style / theme. At the conclusion of the summer, participants will showcase their talents in a final performance for friends and family. Choirs may also have the chance to participate in further performances at community events and assisted living centers across southern Dakota County.

Classes will be held at the Lakeville Area Arts Center in the Fine Arts Building

music themes by age group

  • Ages 4 to 7: Explore the magical world of kids' musical theatre classics by learning songs that include tuns from Annie, The Sound of Music and South Pacific.

​

  • Ages 8 to 11: Journey through time and get your feet moving as you learn show-stopping tuns from Disney's Aladdin and jump to 1960 with a song from the musical Hairspray.

​

  • Ages 12 to Adult: Turn up the volume on summer with classic rock and roll! Unleash your inner classic rock voice while learning timeless hits from music legends like the Beatles.

acting adventures

Engage in a diverse blend of engaging theatre activities and interactive games tailored to your child's age group. Together, we'll delve into the captivating world of the stage, nurturing communication, creativity, and quick-thinking skills. Discover basic theatre terminology and concepts while reveling in playful antics, expressive movements, and the exploration of vibrant onstage voices (and our backstage quiet voices). Join us weekly to inspire your child's imagination and foster socialization in a nurturing atmosphere.

*Please note that adult participation is required for the 3-6 age group, ensuring a supportive environment for our youngest performers. (Adult participants for this age level do not pay a fee.)

summer dance

Improve your balance, coordination, footwork, muscle memory, and performance skills with CCT's studio dance classes and Quin+essential private dance lessons. Classes are broken down by dance style, with each style focusing on different techniques to create a well rounded dancer. Participants will learn new choreography each week and do not need to provide any specific type of dance shoe/clothes (though tap shoes are recommended for tap class).

Ballet (ages 8-18)

  • Course Focus: Build proper dance technique, Strengthen muscles, Improve balance and coordination

  • Duration: 8 sessions, each lasting 1 hour and 30 mins

  • Time: 9:00am - 10:30am

  • Days: Mondays

  • Dates: June 10, 17, 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5

Jazz (ages 8-18)

  • Course Focus: Practice control while spinning, Gain height & extension with leaps, Improve body awareness

  • Duration: 8 sessions, each lasting 1 hour and 30 mins

  • Time: 10:30am - 12:00pm

  • Days: Mondays at the Lakeville Area Arts Center Fine Arts building

  • Dates: June 10, 17, 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5

Musical Theater (ages 8-18) - This class is almost full!

  • Course Focus: Experiment characterization techniques, Learn musical theater choreography, Build performance techniques musicals

  • Duration: 7 sessions, each lasting 1 hour and 30 mins

  • Time: 10:30am - 12:00pm

  • Days: Wednesdays at the Lakeville Area Arts Center Fine Arts building

  • Dates: June 12, 19, 26, July 3, 17, 24, 31, August 7 (no class on July 10)

Tap (ages 10-18)

  • Course Focus: Learn tap steps, Improve rhythm, Grain strength in footwork and articulation

  • Equipment Needs: Tap shoes (preferred)

  • Duration: 8 sessions, each lasting 1 hour and 30 mins

  • Time: 9:00am - 10:30am

  • Days: Tuesdays at the Lakeville Area Arts Center Performing Arts building

  • Dates: June 11, 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6

Private Dance Lessons (ages 10-18)

  • Course Focus: A tailored (one-on-one) environment to concentrate on the dance skills you personally wish to enhance

  • Duration: 30 mins - 90 mins (pending preference)

  • Time: (varies based on day)

  • Days: Friday-Sunday, (varies based on preference), held at CastleCorner (431 3rd St. Farmington, 55024)

CastleCo Theatre (or CCT) is proud to have been serving the Dakota County community for 30+ years. As a community children's theater, CCT works to provide quality theater experiences for kids and adults. CCT acts as a community theater for residents of Farmington, MN, Lakeville, Rosemount, Eagan, Apple Valley, Burnsville, Shakopee and the surrounding cities. CastleCo Theatre is a community arts organization that performs in partnership with the Lakeville Area Arts Center and Lakeville Area Community Education. CCT is the longest running youth theater organization to serve Farmington and Lakeville, MN. Although CCT considers itself a community theater opportunity for kids, we are also proud to provide community theater for high school students and adults.

 

CastleCo Theatre was formerly known as Children's Castle Theater from its founding in 1993 through the summer of 2020.
